SoE Research NAS

Alex Keller -

The SoE Research NAS is a high-performance fully-redundant NAS (network attached storage) server available to SoE research groups. The Research NAS is connected to the campus network via dual 10G network uplinks and supports SMB and NFS file sharing protocols. Labs can self-manage user access to the Research NAS through the Stanford Workgroup Manager. Critical data can be optionally replicated to the Research NAS backup server at the SRCF Datacenter located on the SLAC campus.

The Research NAS is intended solely for the storage of research data and is NOT authorized to host High Risk data as defined in the Stanford Risk Classification Guide (https://uit.stanford.edu/guide/riskclassifications). Research labs pay a one-time per terabyte fee for the life of the server (until 11-3-2020) and all server administration and IT support is provided free of charge.
