Crashplan Network Bandwidth & Exclusions

Alex Keller -

Crashplan has a tendency to consume considerable bandwidth on all available network links (wired and wireless). You can exclude Crashplan from using specific network interfaces or wireless networks as well as throttle the speed of the backup traffic. This fine tuning can be helpful if your network connection is slow or you are being charged by how much data you consume.

  1. Launch the Crashplan application
  2. Select the Settings button on the right side
  3. Select the Network tab:

Network Interface-->Add or remove network interfaces to be used by Crashplan

Wireless networks-->Add or remove wireless networks to be used by Crashplan

"Limit sending rate" can also be used on both the WAN and LAN connections to throttle the rate of the Crashplan traffic.
